Tri-Valley Vineyards, LLC
David Login is the Vineyard Manager of Tri-Valley Vineyards, LLC, which owns Las Positas Ranch in Livermore, California. There he oversees the cultivation of 137 acres of the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Syrah, Merlot and Zinfandel wine grape varietals. Login is responsible for all aspects of farming operations in the vineyard and is spearheading the vineyard's conversion to sustainable organic farming practices.
Prior to joining TKG in 2005, Login worked as an organic farmer in California. From 1981 to 1989, he was the co-owner of Mendocino Botanical Gardens at Ft. Bragg. He later sold this successful operation to the City of Fort Bragg after making substantial improvements and renovations.
Login has combined his passion for agriculture with his love of travel and his interest in philosophy and religion in a variety of ways. From 1978 to 1981 he farmed a 400 year-old almond orchard in Ibiza, Spain. In 1972 he purchased a 400 acre farm in the hills of Tennessee and was an early pioneer in the creation of soybean and tofu products in America. From 1969 to 1972 he traveled extensively in India to study Far Eastern Religions, mysticism and meditation techniques.
Login studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has completed numerous courses and seminars on viticulture and vineyard management at the University of California at Davis, perhaps the world's leading academic institution in the fields of enology and viticulture. Login has also extensively researched and studied the most modern, effective and cost efficient organic farming practices.
Tri-Valley Vineyards, LLC is affiliated with the Certified California Organic Farmers Association and the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association. Login is a member of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture.
"San Francisco from bay to buildings was a study in gray Sunday morning when the USS Potomac docked at Pier E, next to the San Francisco Ferry Building... an elegant brunch on the bay catered by the Left Bank and with wines from California wineries such as Buena Vista, Wild Horse and Wattle Creek..."
